A selective nerve root block is an injection that delivers medication into the space around spinal nerve roots, with the goal of determining the location of a specific spinal nerve root that is the suspected cause of the pain and to also to provide relief from back, leg, or other pain caused by the irritated spinal nerves.
All injections are performed under fluoroscopy (x-ray) guidance.
What can you expect after the injection?
You may feel immediate pain relief in your back and legs after the injection. In specific cases your physician may ask for you to keep a pain diary to help identifying your pain generator.
